David Kenney is a North East DJ who has contributed to the region's club culture throughout the 2000s. As a DJ, David played a role in Newcastle’s nightlife, with his iconic events under the Freakshow Disco brand taking over numerous clubs in the city. His blend of cutting-edge house and techno also made him a sought-after DJ in Durham and Sunderland, where he played regularly, further solidifying his reputation.
In addition to his DJ career, David launched Audio Parallax, a record label that became a cornerstone of the local underground music scene. Over the course of the decade, the label released over 40 records, showcasing his keen ear for emerging talent in electronic music.
Today, while still a connoisseur and passionate advocate of house music, David has expanded his creative endeavours. He now focuses on art and fiction, exploring new mediums through his platform, davidkenney.art. His work reflects a deep, ongoing exploration of culture, sound, and visual storytelling, with a focus on abstract expressionism and experimental narratives. Despite his shift toward the visual and literary arts, his love for house music remains a central part of his identity, and he continues to draw inspiration from dance music. David’s diverse creative pursuits highlight his versatility and enduring dedication to his artistic passions.
